1. Oral Stage - Birth to 1 1/2 y.o.; mouth is the center of pleasure (major source of gratification); Primary need is security; Major Conflict is weaning



2. Anal Stage - 1 1/2 to 3 y.o.; Anus and Bladder are the sources of pleasure (sensual satisfaction and self-control); Major conflict is toilet training

3. Phallic Stage - 4 to 6 y.o.; Center of pleasure: child's genital (masturbation); Major conflicts: Electra Complex and Oedipus Complex

4. Latency Stage - 6 y.o. to puberty; energy is directed to intellectual and physical activities; sexual impulses repressed; relationship between peers of same sex

5. Genital - Puberty onwards; Energy directed towards full sexual maturity and function and development of skills to cope with the environment
